For Patients

What to Bring

On your first visit to a ScoliCare Sydney clinic, please bring along:

  • any previous scans, x-rays, MRIs, reports etc
  • your Medicare card (for bulk-billing x-rays if required)

What to Wear

Wear comfortable clothing. We will need to see your back and will ask you to bend forwards and side to side. If you are coming for rehabilitation, wear gym/yoga clothes that allow full movement.

What to Expect

The first step to providing the right treatment is accurate assessment and diagnosis. We will first assess your posture and look for signs of scoliosis. If you don’t have recent x-rays, and it looks like you do have a scoliosis, you may be referred for x-ray on the same day as your appointment. Your clinician will then review the x-ray images with you and discuss the findings. In some cases, such as juvenile and adolescent scoliosis cases, an MRI may be indicated and we will liaise with your GP to arrange referral for one.

By the end of your initial consultation, we will be able to:

  • measure and classify your type of scoliosis
  • discuss the risks of progression
  • discuss available treatment options
  • provide a treatment plan
